ULTRASONIC PROBE APPARATUS OF COUPLANT SELF-SUPPLYING TYPE ABSTRACT A ultrasonic probe apparatus having a rotary tire type probe filled with a liquid and a ultrasonic transducer disposed inside the tire probe. The rotary tire probe is rotated on the surface to be inspected to scan the same. The probe apparatus further comprises a couplant-containing tank so disposed as to cover sub- stantially the lower half of the tire probe and to define a gap between the inner surface of the tank and the outer circumferential surface of the tire probe, and a resilient wiper extending upwardly from the open edge of the tank up to a position where the wiper comes into sliding contact with the surface to be inspected. Thus the couplant is automatically supplied to the surface to be inspected with the rotation of the tire probe, and thereafter wiped off from the inspected surface and recovered into the tank by the wiper.
