Methods and systems for passively detecting stable cavitation and enhancing stable cavitation during sonothrombolysis are provided. The method of passively detecting stable cavita-tion includes providing a determined level of ul-trasonic energy and detecting a scattered level of ultrasonic energy. The system for inducing and passively detecting stable cavitation includes a dual-element annular transducer array configured to provide a fundamental ultrasonic frequency and to detect an ultrasonic frequency that is a deriva-tive of the fundamental frequency. The method of enhancing stable cavitation includes administering a nucleating agent and a thrombolytic agent to a treatment zone, providing a determined level of ul-trasonic energy, and detecting a scattered level of ultrasonic energy.

L'invention concerne des procédés et des systèmes destinés à détecter passivement une cavitation stable et à améliorer la cavitation stable au cours d'une sonothrombolyse. Le procédé de détection passive d'une cavitation stable comprend les étapes consistant à émettre un niveau déterminé d'énergie ultrasonore et à détecter un niveau de diffusion d'énergie ultrasonore. Le système de génération et de détection passive de cavitation stable comprend un réseau de transducteurs annulaires à double élément conçu pour émettre une fréquence ultrasonore fondamentale et pour détecter une fréquence ultrasonore qui est dérivée de la fréquence fondamentale.
