ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An ultraviolet light curable, adhesive active finish composition for synthetic reinforcing members to bond the latter to vulcanizable rubber includes 100 parts by weight of an ultraviolet light curable, liquid epoxide; and, from about 0.01 to about 10 parts by weight of a photoinitiator. A synthetic reinforcing cord product for vulcanizab- le rubber includes a plurality of strands of synthetic fiber; and, an ultraviolet light curable coating composition on said plurality of strands comprising 100 parts by weight of an ultraviolet light curable, liquid epoxide, and from about 0.01 to about 10 parts by weight of a photoinitiator. A method of reinforcing articles of vulcanizable rubber with fibrous members includes the steps of applying to the fibrous member an ultraviolet light curable coating composition which includes 100 parts by weight of an ultraviolet light curable, liquid epoxide, and from about 0.01 to about 10 parts by weight of a photoinitiator; curing the applied coating composition by exposing it to ultraviolet light radiation; embedding the cured, coated fibrous member in the vulcanizable rubber; and, vulcanizing the rubber.
