An apparatus for the treatment of a fluid is provided which includes a separate housing and enclosure for containing at least one ballast and electrical means, respectively, to power and control the operation of a plurality of vertically arranged UV lamps that are immersed in a fluid to be treated. An apparatus and method is included for removing material deposited on the corresponding transparent sleeves which protect the lamps, the apparatus comprising at least one plate provided with a corresponding number of openings for the passage of the protective sleeves therethrough, means for reciprocating the plate along the axis of the protective sleeves, and means disposed about the openings in the plate for removing the deposited material on the sleeves as the plate moves in either direction along the sleeves. The apparatus may also include a device and method for ultrasonically agitating the fluid surrounding the protective sleeves to dislodge materials deposited thereon.
L'invention porte sur un appareil de traitement d'un fluide. L'appareil inclut un boîtier individuel et une enceinte contenant, respectivement, au moins un ballast et un élément électrique pour alimenter et commander le fonctionnement d'une série d'émetteurs à rayonnement ultraviolet disposés verticalement et immergés dans un fluide à traiter. L'invention porte également sur un appareil et une méthode pour enlever la matière déposée sur les gaines transparentes correspondantes protégeant les émetteurs. L'appareil comporte au moins une plaque présentant un nombre correspondant d'ouvertures qui permettent le passage des gaines de protection, des éléments servant à déplacer la plaque en va-et-vient le long de l'axe des gaines de protection et des éléments placés autour des ouvertures de la plaque pour enlever la matière déposée sur les gaines au fur et à mesure que la plaque se déplace dans un sens ou dans l'autre le long des gaines. L'invention peut également concerner un dispositif et une méthode, qui agitent par ultrasons le fluide entourant les gaines de protection afin de déloger les matières qui y sont déposées.
