Disclosed is a novel ultraviolet light receiving element that is selectively sensitive to ultraviolet light. Also disclosed is a method for measuring the amount of ultraviolet light using the ultraviolet light receiving element. An ultraviolet detecting layer formed of a thin film of a metal fluoride such as cerium fluoride, lithium fluoride, magnesium fluoride, or calcium fluoride is formed on a substrate of silica glass, sapphire or the like. Further, at least a pair of an anode and a cathode are formed on the ultraviolet detecting layer to prepare an ultraviolet light receiving element. The electric resistance of the ultraviolet light receiving element changes depending upon the amount of incident ultraviolet light. Accordingly, the amount of ultraviolet light can be measured by taking out and measuring the change as an electric signal.
L'invention concerne un élément récepteur de lumière ultraviolette nouveau qui est sensible, de façon sélective, à la lumière ultraviolette. L'invention concerne également un procédé de mesure de la quantité de lumière ultraviolette utilisant l'élément récepteur de lumière ultraviolette. On forme, sur une couche de détection de lumière ultraviolette, un film fin d'un fluorure métallique tel que du fluorure de cérium, du fluorure de lithium, du fluorure de magnésium ou du fluorure de calcium, sur un substrat de verre de silice, de saphir ou similaire. En outre, on forme au moins une paire anode-cathode sur la couche de détection de lumière ultraviolette pour préparer un élément récepteur de lumière ultraviolette. La résistance électrique de l'élément récepteur de lumière ultraviolette change en fonction de la quantité de lumière ultraviolette incidente. En conséquence, il est possible de mesurer la quantité de lumière ultraviolette en isolant et en mesurant la modification comme un signal électrique.
