An ultrawideband transverse electromagnetic mode horn antenna for use at high voltages, comprises a pulse generator (I) and two transmission horns (12, 18) containing different dielectric media. The interface (30) between the dielectric media is configured so that a signal from the generator is incident on the interface at an angle substantially equal to the Brewster angle, thereby maintaining a good impedance match across tile interface. A further advantage of the arrangement is that the TEM wavefront is preserved through the antenna section allowing operation at fast pulse risetime (less than 200ps) for short duration (several ns) at high voltage.

Une antenne-cornet à mode électromagnétique transversal et bande ultra-large, pouvant s'utiliser à des tensions élevées, comprend un générateur d'impulsions (1) et deux cornets d'émission (12, 18) contenant différents milieux diélectriques. L'interface (30) séparant ces derniers est configurée de façon qu'un signal provenant du générateur présente avec ladite interface un angle d'incidence sensiblement égal à l'angle d'incidence de Brewster, ce qui permet de maintenir une bonne corrélation d'impédance sur toute l'interface. Cette configuration offre aussi l'avantage de préserver le front d'onde, en mode électromagnétique transversal, au travers de cette section d'antenne, ce qui permet un fonctionnement à temps de montée d'impulsions rapide (moins de 200 ps), à durée brève (quelques nanosecondes) et à tension élevée.
