UNCASER MACHINE Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved uncaser machine having a mechanical gate device operable to arrest the forward motion of an object travelling on conveyor means, whereby that object is positionable at a predetermined location thereon. The gate device comprises: 1) a rotatable shaft adapted to be arranged substantially adjacent and generally parallel to the conveyor; 2) means for selectively rotating the shaft between first and second positions; 3) a gate-bearing sleeve arranged at a fixed location on the shaft, immediately downstream of the predetermined location. The above-mentioned sleeve is adapted for limited inde- pendent rotation about the rotatable shaft by means of respective- ly borne co-operating abutments which are spring-biased into nor- mally, mutually contacting relation such that rotation of the shaft between the first and second positions normally results in a corresponding rotation of said gate-bearing sleeve member. The gate is thereby rotatably positionable into the path of the object when in the first position, and is positionable so as to permit the unobstructed passage of the object along the conveyor when in the second position.
