An apparatus for protecting and insulating components positioned under a sink that is mounted to a wall surface comprises a body in the form of a shield and defining a cavity on one side thereof, to be mounted against a wall beneath a sink with the cavity facing the wall. The body has a lower section and an upper section cooperating for forming the cavity to receive and cover components positioned under a sink when the body is mounted therebeneath. A transition section couples the upper section with the lower section. The transition section flares forwardly from the lower section such that the cavity portion formed by the upper section of the body, when the body is mounted to a wall surface below a sink, is configured to completely receive and cover a basin of the sink.
