Abstract of the Disclosure The disclosure of this specification teaches the use of a regulator for a self-contained breathing apparatus for attachment to a user's back. The regulator includes a high pressure entrance thereto which is adapted to receive high pressure breathing gas from a source of breathing gas under pressure. A poppet is provided, which poppet has a valving surface. A conduit has a valve seat which is adapted to receive the valving surface thereover. A linkage operatively moves the poppet. Connected to the linkage is a spring loaded member exposed to ambient pressure. An elastomeric flex- ible member is attached to the ambient pressure member, which flexible member deforms under varying pressures between the ambient condition of the inter- mediate pressure which has been regulated by the regulator.
