An underwater mining machine (10) includes a chassis (12) mounted on a powered drive arrangement (14) for driving the chassis on an underwater surface, the chassis (12) having a front end and a rear end and being adapted to be maneouvrable and driven in at least a forward direction, a rotatable cutting drum (22) secured to a boom (24) which is attached to a cradle (92) mounted on the chassis, and material gathering means (46) adapted to gather material which has been excavated or broken up by the cutting drum (22).

On décrit une machine minière sous-marine (10) constituée d'un châssis (12) monté sur un dispositif de commande (14) électrique qui entraîne le châssis sur une surface sous-marine. Ledit châssis (12) présente une extrémité avant et une extrémité arrière et est adapté pour être manoeuvré et entraîné dans au moins un sens conducteur. La machine est en outre constituée d'un tambour de coupe (22) pivotant fixé à une membrure (24), laquelle est montée sur un berceau (92) posé sur le châssis, et d'un moyen de collecte (46) de matériaux conçu pour ramasser les matériaux extraits ou concassés par le tambour de coupe (22).
