An undesirable energy suppression system in a contention based communications network having a shared communication path between a plurality of remote points and a headend in a simplex network or a bidirectional network. The system includes a method and apparatus for transmitting a signal on the shared communication path from any one of the plurality of remote points contending for the shared communication path, to the headend. The signal includes a gate enabling signal also known as a prybar signal. The shared communication path includes a gate where the gate connects the shared communication path when the gate is closed, and the gate disconnects the shared communication path when the gate is open. The system controls the gate in response to receiving the gate enabling signal. Absent a gate enabling signal, any signal or other energy on the shared communication path will not propagate through the network because the shared communication path is disconnected. In one embodiment a single gate is located where it can serve an entire distribution branch of remote points in a tree and branch style network. In another embodiment there is a gate dedicated to each individual remote point in the network.
L'invention est un système d'élimination de parasites pour réseau de communication à résolution des conflits d'accès dans lequel un trajet de communication est mis en commun entre une pluralité de points éloignés et une tête de bus dans un réseau simplex ou bidirectionnel. Le système comprend une méthode et un appareil servant à transmettre un signal sur le trajet de communication commun entre l'un quelconque des points éloignés cherchant à avoir accès au trajet de communication commun, et la tête de bus. Le signal comprend une composante de validation de porte. Le trajet de communication commun comprend une porte qui connecte ce trajet quand elle est fermée et qui le déconnecte quand elle est ouverte. Le système contrôle la porte en réponse à la réception du signal de validation de porte. En l'absence de ce signal, aucun signal ni aucun parasite présent dans le trajet de communication commun ne peut se propager dans le réseau car le trajet de communication commun est déconnecté. Dans l'une des concrétisations de l'invention, une seule porte est utilisée et elle est montée à un endroit où elle peut desservir un branchement de distribution pour tous les points éloignés dans un réseau arborescent. Dans une autre concrétisation de l'invention, une porte est réservée à chaque point éloigné du réseau.
