An uninterruptible power source (UPS 12') for supplying power to a barrier operator (14' ) when mains power (25) has failed is disclosed. The UPS (12') includes a UPS controller (36) for detecting and responding to a mains power failure and capable of generating a plurality of control signals. A backup power source (40) and an up-converter (38) is connected to the UPS controller (36), wherein the up-converter (38) increases the voltage of the backup power source (40) when needed. A switch (46) is responsive to one of the plurality of control signals of the UPS controller (36) and toggles the operator barrier (11' ) between the up-converter (38) and the mains power source (25) , and awakens the operator via a standby receiver power line. Another embodiment awakens the operator (14') anytime a UPS (48) receiver receives a preamble of a wireless transmission signal. Auxiliary lighting (33) may also be associated with the UPS (12' ) and/or photo-electric safety devices (35) .
L'invention concerne une alimentation sans coupure (UPS 12') permettant d'alimenter un mécanisme de commande de barrière (14') lors d'une défaillance du système d'alimentation principal (25). L'UPS (12') comprend un contrôleur (36) permettant de détecter une défaillance du système d'alimentation principal, de répondre à cette défaillance et de produire une pluralité de signaux de commande. Une alimentation de secours (40) et un convertisseur élévateur (38) sont reliés au contrôleur (36), le convertisseur élévateur (38) étant conçu pour augmenter la tension de l'alimentation de secours (40) selon les besoins. Un commutateur (46) sensible à un des signaux de commande du contrôleur (36) permet de relier alternativement la barrière (11') au convertisseur élévateur (38) ou au système d'alimentation principal (25) et d'activer le mécanisme de commande par l'intermédiaire d'une ligne d'alimentation de réception de réserve. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, le mécanisme de commande (14') est activé à chaque fois qu'un récepteur UPS (48) reçoit un préambule d'un signal de transmission sans fil. L'alimentation sans coupure (12') peut également être associée à un système d'éclairage auxiliaire (33) et/ou à des dispositifs de sécurité photoélectriques (35).
