A novel combination of a rail car supported on a within the center bowl of its truck bolster comprises a unitary wear liner closely fitted within the center bowl so as to require no exterior protection from grit and debris carried in the environment outside that of the center plate assembly held in the bowl. The unitary wear liner is required to be formed from specified reaction injection molded (RIM) polymers which when moulded, are found to be free of microscopic voids >20µm and therefore, fully dense, unlike prior art polymeric wear liners for the center bowl. This property of being fully dense unexpectedly allows the liner to have specified physical properties which permit a railroad car truck equipped with the liners to operate with exceptional reliability, safety and for a long period of time.

Il s'agit d'une garniture d'usure d'une seule pièce étroitement adaptée à l'intérieur de la cuvette centrale de manière à ne nécessiter aucune protection extérieure contre les petites pierres et les débris présents dans l'environnement sauf celle de la liaison caisse-bogie maintenue dans la cuvette. La garniture d'usure d'une seule pièce doit être constituée de polymères moulés par injection et réaction (RIM) qui, après moulage, sont exempts de vides microscopiques ayant plus de 20 micromètres et sont, de ce fait, très compacts, contrairement aux garnitures d'usure polymériques antérieures pour la cuvette centrale. La grande compacité de la garniture confère de manière inattendue des propriétés physiques précises qui permettent à un wagon de chemin de fer équipé de ces garnitures d'être utilisé en toute sécurité, avec un degré de fiabilité exceptionnel et ce, pendant longtemps.
