Method and apparatus for combined-process fabricating of flat-rolled sheet metal precoated with an organic polymeric coating into an elongated cylindrical-configuration one-piece can body precoated on interior and exterior surfaces. A circular configuration rigid flat-rolled sheet metal blank precoated with organic polymeric coating is shaped into a unitary cup- shaped product which is free of increased sheet metal thickness. In a single- stroke combined processing, the work product reshaped is passed through side wall ironing structure to increase side wall height and to produce a substantially uniform thickness side wall. Side-wall ironing is carried out free of damage to the precoated organic polymeric coating and the can body, as fabricated, is ready for use free of coating repair requirements. The resultant can body endwall thickness is substantially equal to the preselected starting gauge of the circular blank.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant la fabrication d'un corps monobloc de boîte à conserve de forme cylindrique oblongue et pré-enduite sur ses faces intérieure et extérieure, cette fabrication se faisant à partir d'une tôle métallique laminée pré-enduite d'un revêtement polymère organique. L'invention consiste, à partir d'une ébauche de configuration circulaire, en tôle rigide et pré-enduite d'un revêtement polymère organique, à former par emboutissage un article monobloc exempt de toute surépaisseur de tôle. En une seule opération combinée, l'article refaçonné est soumis à un passage dans une structure d'étirage de paroi permettant d'augmenter la hauteur de la paroi latérale et de produire une paroi latérale d'une épaisseur sensiblement uniforme. L'étirage de paroi s'exécute sans endommager le revêtement polymère organique dont a été pré-enduite la paroi, et le corps de boîte à conserve est prêt à l'emploi sans qu'il soit nécessaire de retoucher le revêtement. L'épaisseur du fond du corps de boîte à conserve résultant est sensiblement égale au calibre de début choisi pour l'ébauche circulaire.
