UNITARY SPECIMEN COLLECTION TUBE AND MICROSCOPE SLIDE DEVICE Abstract The device has a flat, elongated, self-supporting, preferably transparent backing strip and a transparent front strip bearing side and bottom flanges bonded to the backing strip. Both strips are preferably plastic and the front strip is vacuum molded to a configuration which defines with the backing strip an upper open-topped hollow specimen collection tube for urine samples and the like and a lower microscope slide having an internal chamber. An intermediate, narrow bore, hollow conduit, preferably about 0.06 inch diameter, interconnects the slide chamber with the lower interior portion of the collection tube, so that sediment and the like can gravitate from the collection tube down through the conduit to the slide chamber. The device can be centrifuged as an integral collector/slide unit and later the slide can be readily broken away from the collection tube at the conduit for microscopic analysis of the sediment therein. Transverse score lines and/or notches permit the length of the collection tube to be adjusted to fit a centrifuge and facilitate breaking the slide away from the collection tube. The device is simple, inexpensive and effective.
