ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE For unitized, in-line electrons guns for television color cathode ray tubes, an improved method of and structure for mounting the convergence cup is depicted and described. The structure and method facilitates production assembly and provides accurate alignment of the convergence cup with respect to the main gun assembly. The electron gun has an axial succession of unitized electrodes including a final focus electrode, the electrodes have therethrough three beam- passing apertures aligned with the three beam-passing apertures in the other electrodes. The convergence cup has the three beam-passing apertures and two separate tooling-pin aperatures. A carrier plate is provided having three beam-passing apertures of the same diameter and position and the beam-passing apertures in the final focus electrode, and two tooling-pin apertures of the same diameter and position as the tooling-pin aperatures in the convergence cup. The carrier plate is aligned with the final focus electrode by locating tool means inserted through the outside beam-passing apertures of both the carrier plate and the final focus electrode. The carrier plate is then bonded to the final focus electrode by welding means. The bonded combination of the carrier plate and the final focus electrode is then aligned with the convergence cup by tooling-pin means inserted through aligned tooling-pin apertures of like size in the combination and the convergence cup. The combination and convergence cup are then bounded by welding means.
