A brake actuator assembly (40) for a railway vehicle braking system comprises a flexible elastomeric member (50) directly and sealably attached to a mounting member (80) employed for attaching the brake actuator assembly to the rigid structure of a braking system and to a push rod member (32) connected to the control linkage. The brake actuator assembly is connected to a source of fluid under pressure enabling inflation of the flexible elastomeric member and initiation of a braking sequence of the railway vehicle braking system. The brake actuator assembly of the present invention allows for improved control of the brake shoe forces including visual travel measurement indication which is especially desirable during light load conditions. Currently used brake assemblies employing cylinder type actuators may be retrofitted with the brake actuator assembly of the invention.

La présente invention concerne un ensemble d~actionneur de frein (40) pour un système de freinage de véhicule ferroviaire qui comprend un élément élastomère souple (50) attaché de manière directe et scellable à un élément de montage (80) utilisé pour attacher l~ensemble d~actionneur de frein à la structure rigide d~un système de freinage et à un élément de tige de poussoir (32) raccordé à une timonerie de commande. L~ensemble d~actionneur de frein est raccordé à une source de fluide sous pression qui permet le gonflement de l'élément élastomère souple et le lancement d~une séquence de freinage du système de freinage de véhicule ferroviaire. L~ensemble d~actionneur de frein de la présente invention permet une commande améliorée des forces appliquées sur le segment de frein qui comprend une indication visuelle de mesure de course qui est particulièrement recherchée dans des conditions de charge légère. À l~heure actuelle, les ensembles de freins utilisés qui font appel à des actionneurs de type cylindre peuvent être convertis à l~ensemble d~actionneur de frein de l~invention.
