A tunneler assembly (100) for use with a catheter assembly (50), for securing the catheter assembly to a patient. The tunneler assembly includes a tunneler (102) and a connector assembly (110), the connector assembly being removably securable to the tunneler's proximal end (104) and also extending through the or one lumen (56) of the catheter to be engaged with the proximal end of the catheter assembly to push the catheter assembly forwardly through the newly created tunnel during performance of the tunneling procedure, after which the connector assembly (110) is removable to disconnect the tunneler (102) from the catheter. A connector section (114) on the proximal end (104) of the tunneler (102) enables an adapter (130) of the connector assembly to lock onto the tunneler, after which a sheath (160) is slid into position over the tunneler (102) and then over the connector assembly (110) to sheathe the connector assembly and adjacent portions of the catheter distal end (54) and the tunneler proximal end (104).
L'invention concerne un ensemble de tunnélisation (100) utilisé avec un ensemble cathéter (50), destiné à fixer ledit ensemble cathéter à un patient. Ledit ensemble de tunnélisation comporte un dispositif de tunnélisation (102) et un ensemble connecteur (110), ce dernier pouvant être fixé amovible à l'extrémité proximale (104) du dispositif de tunnélisation et traversant la ou une lumière (56) du cathéter pour venir en prise avec l'extrémité proximale de l'ensemble cathéter de façon à pousser ce dernier en avant à travers le tunnel nouvellement créé lors de l'exécution de la procédure de tunnélisation, après quoi, l'ensemble connecteur (110) peut être enlevé pour débrancher le dispositif de tunnélisation (102) du cathéter. Une section connecteur (114) sur l'extrémité proximale (104) du dispositif de tunnélisation (102) permet à un adaptateur (130) de l'ensemble connecteur de se verrouiller sur le dispositif de tunnélisation, une gaine 160 se glissant ensuite en position sur le dispositif de tunnélisation (102) puis sur l'ensemble connecteur (110) pour gainer ce dernier et les parties contiguës de l'extrémité distale (54) du cathéter et de l'extrémité proximale (104) du dispositif de tunnélisation.
