A cementing plug (10) having a universal construction has a body member (24) and an elastomeric jacket (26) on the body member (24). The body member defines a central opening (30) therethrough with a shoulder (34) therein. To configure the plug as a bottom cementing plug, a shearable insert (48) is positioned on the shoulder, and to configure the plug as a top cementing plug, a non-shearable insert (50) is positioned on the shoulder. The inserts are interchangeable. The jacket (26) has one or more wiper cups (40, 42) which have a conical surface (44, 46) extending at an acute angle with respect to a longitudinal axis of the plug, thereby providing a substantially large contact area in use in a well casing to improve wiping efficiency and extend life.

Ce bouchon de cimentation (10) présente une structure universelle et comprend un corps (24) ainsi que, sur celui-ci, une gaine élastomère (26). Ce corps (24) détermine une ouverture centrale traversante (30) dans laquelle on a disposé un épaulement (34). Pour mettre en forme un bouchon en tant que bouchon de cimentation de fond de tubage, on a placé sur l'épaulement un élément d'insertion (48) pouvant supporter un cisaillement, et pour mettre en forme ce bouchon en tant que bouchon de cimentation de sommet de tubage, on a placé sur l'épaulement un élément d'insertion (50) ne supportant pas un cisaillement. La gaine (26) présente au moins une dent de raclage (40, 42) comportant une surface conique (44, 46) et s'étendant de manière à former un angle aigu avec l'axe longitudinal du bouchon, constituant ainsi une zone de contact relativement grande, utile dans un tubage de puits pour améliorer l'efficacité de l'essuyage et augmenter la longévité du bouchon.
