An apparatus is provided that is suitable for puffing a variety of different cereal material such as any cereal grain or cereal doughs or extrusions. A generally frusto-conical pressurizing chamber is provided with a nozzle component at its discharge end portion, which nozzle component is interchangeable with nozzle components having differing shapes and sizes depending upon the particular cereal material to be puffed or expanded. Steam injectors are tangentially oriented with respect to the pressurizing chamber, and they cooperate to provide a generally vortex-like discharge path for the cereal material out of the pressurizing chamber.

Cette invention concerne un appareil adapté à la production de diverses céréales soufflées à partir de pâtes de grains ou céréales, extrudées ou non. Il comporte une enceinte de pressurisation généralement tronconique équipée d'une buse côté sortie, ladite buse étant interchangeable avec différents modèles de buses de tailles et de formes variées que l'on choisit en fonction du type particulier de céréale à souffler. Des injecteurs de vapeur montées tangentiellement créent dans l'enceinte de pressurisation une circulation généralement tourbillonnaire vers l'extérieur de ladite enceinte.
