Universal data input card which loads the data of a destination point and the route into the navigation device. The card can be produced completely by printing and can be published in any printed product. On the card comprising a picture field (3) to locate a photo and a text field (4) for text information, miniature map segments (2) contain the route information and a bar-code (1) gives the coordinates of the destination point. The card of the selected destination point is simply inserted into the card input slot (7) of the GPS device which is built together with an optoelectronic card reader then the device navigates the driver to the destination point by means of the information shown on the display (6) which can be completed by additional voice information. The purpose of introducing the system which operates with a printed card is to spread GPS technology in everyday use for the public.
Carte universelle d'introduction de données, servant à introduire dans un dispositif de navigation les données relatives à un point de destination et à l'itinéraire à suivre. La carte peut être fabriquée uniquement par impression et peut être publiée dans tout type d'imprimé. La carte comporte une zone d'image (3) pour une photo, une zone de texte (4) pour des informations textuelles, des segments de carte géographique miniaturisée (2) contenant des informations relatives à l'itinéraire à suivre, et un code à barres (1) indiquant les coordonnées du point de destination. La carte du point de destination choisi s'introduit tout simplement dans le logement pour carte (7) du dispositif GPS, ce logement étant associé à un lecteur optoélectronique de cartes, puis le dispositif dirige le conducteur jusqu'au point de destination au moyen des informations affichées sur l'écran (6) et éventuellement accompagnées d'informations vocales supplémentaires. L'intérêt de ce système à cartes imprimées est qu'il permet d'étendre l'usage de la technologie GPS à la vie quotidienne pour le grand public.
