An electric chafer heater for a chafer (10) is disclosed herein. The chafer heater (36, 38) is removably supported by a shelf disposed below a chafing dish. The chafer heater includes a base having a cylindrical bottom portion (52) held within an aperture in the shelf (14) sized for receiving a standard can heater. The chafer heater further includes a resilient member extending upward from the base, and an electric heating assembly coupled to the resilient member opposite the base. The heating assembly has a heating surface posititionable above the base by the compression of the resilient member. The heating surface is biased against the chafing dish when the base is supported by the shelf to provide a thermal interface to transfer heat between the heating surface and the chafing dish. The heating assembly has variable (e.g., low and high) power settings selected by an input device (e.g., a switch). The heater includes a ballast at the bottom of the base, and a switch which cuts off the flow of electricity to the heating assembly in response to a sensed parameter (e.g., temperature; inclination). A visual indicator may provide an indication when the heating surface exceeds a predetermined temperature.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de chauffage électrique pour réchaud (10), destiné à un réchaud. Le dispositif de chauffage pour réchaud (36, 38) est soutenu détachable par un socle placé sous un plat-réchaud. Le dispositif de chauffage pour réchaud comporte une base présentant une partie inférieure cylindrique (52) maintenue dans un orifice du socle (14), dont les dimensions sont prévues pour recevoir un élément chauffant pour boîte de conserve standard. Le dispositif de chauffage pour réchaud comporte en outre un élément résilient s'étendant vers le haut à partir de la base, et un ensemble chauffage électrique couplé à l'élément résilient situé à l'opposé de la base. L'ensemble chauffage présente une surface de chauffe pouvant être placée au-dessus de la base par compression de l'élément résilient. La surface de chauffe est contrainte contre le plat-réchaud lorsque la base est soutenue par le socle, afin de constituer une interface thermique permettant un transfert de chaleur entre la surface de chauffe et le plat-réchaud. L'ensemble chauffage comporte des positions de puissance variables (p. ex. faible et forte) qu'on peut sélectionner au moyen d'un dispositif d'entrée (p. ex. un commutateur). Le dispositif de chauffage comporte un ballast au pied de la base, et un commutateur permettant de couper le courant électrique vers l'ensemble chauffage en réponse à un paramètre capté (p. ex. température, inclinaison). Un indicateur visuel peut fournir un signal indiquant que la surface de chauffe présente une température supérieure à une température préétablie.
