A fastener wherein the tip portion (318) includes a structure that enables and facilitates the insertion of the fastener into both wood and concrete substrates. The tip portion (318) includes a half- cone structure (325) in which a pointed tip is defined between a radially outer conical surface portion (320) and a radially inner flat or planar surface portion (322).
