A conformable face mask for health care workers is provided. The use of elastomeric materials (24, 26) applied under tension helps define a plurality of gathers which facilitate the donning and positioning of the mask. An elastomeric headband (24) maintains a comfortable and efficient seal while a similar elastomeric chin snap (26) helps provide a pouch-like enclosure for the wearer's chin. The substantially rectangular face mask includes a plurality of horizontal stays (14, 16, 18) which are individually adjustable to create a three-dimensional shaped mask which defines a spaced breathing area around the wearer's nose and mouth. Additional rigidity is provided by the selected melting of horizontal bands of the filter portion of the mask.
L'invention porte sur un masque facial confortable pour personnel de santé. L'emploi d'élastomères (24, 26) appliqués sous tension aide à créer des fronces facilitant la mise en place et le positionnement du masque. Un bandeau crânien d'élastomère (24) assure une étanchéité efficace de manière confortable tandis qu'une mentonnière (26) d'un élastomère similaire forme une poche pour le menton. Le masque, sensiblement rectangulaire, comporte plusieurs renforts (14, 16, 16) réglables séparément et créant un masque en trois dimensions comportant une zone de respiration séparée autour du nez et de la bouche. Un supplément de rigidité est obtenu par fusion sélective de bandes horizontales de la partie filtrante du masque.
