ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A universal joint comprising two joint coupling parts adapted to transmit rotary torque at a universal angle posi- tion of the two joint coupling parts thus each of the two join-t coupling parts have a torque like claw, the arms of which are axially rotated in relation to each other so as to engage each other and intermediate coupling means comprising four coupling parts, which cooperate with the claw arms, and which by a predetermined force are constantly pressed towards from each other and to the sides of the claw arms whereby any play is automatically eliminated. Thus the present invention provides a universal joint comprising two joint coupling claws adapted to transmit rotary torque, at a universal angle position, bet- ween the two coupling claws, in which each of the two coupling claws has a fork like claw arm, which claws are axially rota- table with respect to each other over anintermediate coupling means comprising at least four mutually cooperating insert parts, the coupling claw arms being arc formed and angle formed with the apex of the angle sides thereof facing radially inwards, said claw arms extending over an angle of more than 90° and cooperating with the four insert parts provided bet- ween each respective pair of coupling claw arms, -the insert parts having a foot portion having at least one radially in- wardly directed wedge coupling surface cooperating with a spring biassed wedge joint means slidingly in contact with the wedge coupling surface of the insert parts thereby bias- sing the insert parts apart and into contact with angle sides of the coupling claw arms so as to automatically eliminate any play appearing in the universal joint depending on wear.
