A fully integrated, modifiable postural support system is described. The systembegins with three basic support garments which may be used separately or in concert: a vest providing thoracic, lumbar, lumbosacral and abdominal support; a retaining belt providing primarily abdominal, lumbar and lumbosacral support; and compression shorts providing support to the abdominal, lumbosacral, hip, groin and thigh areas. All are fashioned from breathable elastic materials allowing protected range of motion and providing moderate muscle support. All are washable, durable, inconspicuous under street clothing, and available in a variety of standard sizes. All accept a variety of modifications such as thermo molded panels, stays of varying degrees of flexibility, cushions and therapeutic devices to provide the optimal degree of support, and economically accommodate changing needs over time. The availability of a complete range of support options within a single system allows the system to respond to increasing or decreasing support needs on the part of the wearer, reduces the likelihood of over- or under-correction, minimizes cost, and increases the expertise and efficiency of the medical professionals who prescribe and fit support devices.
