- 1 - Abstract: The present invention relates to a data receiver. The data receiver is characterized by a first-in, first-out buffer storge unit, a movable barrier in the storage unit for dividing the storage unit into two parts and a unit for limiting access to one of the two parts. The invention is further related to a method of processing data comprising the steps of loading the data into a multi-stage register which includes a movable barrier, testing the data while the data is behind the movable barrier and then moving the barrier behind the data when the testing is complete.
