Disclosed is a universal timepiece from which a latitude and a longitude can be determined. A bottom plate (1) which has the names of the main cities in the world, scales and the relative longitudes according to the real longitudes of the cities on the circumference thereof, is included. Comprised is a circular hour plate (2) which has a 24-divisional scale having the same angles with respect to the center. And a circular star plate (3) which rotates 360.99~ per 24 hours is included. The rotational axis coincides with the Polaris or the south pole and the main stars and a concentric circle for representing the declination are designated in the star plate (3). At each concentric circle, the declination or the value obtained by subtracting the declination from 90~ is recorded. The clock plate rotates to indicate the time. The star plate (3) is the timepiece which rotates in the same velocity with the actual celestial sphere. The timepiece of the present invention can be utilized as the universal timepiece and the rotation of the earth can be indirectly observed regardless of day and night. The latitude, the longitude and the present time can be advantageously and correctly appreciated.

L'invention concerne une montre universelle permettant de déterminer la latitude et la longitude et constituée d'une base (1) sur laquelle se trouvent inscrits le nom des villes principales, les heures et leurs longitudes relatives selon les longitudes réelles des villes sur leur circonférence. Cette montre comprend aussi un plateau des heures (2), tournant pour indiquer l'heure, et divisé en 24 échelles selon des angles identiques par rapport au centre et un plateau circulaire des étoiles (3) qui tourne sur 360,99· en 24 heures, son axe de rotation coïncidant avec l'étoile polaire ou le pôle sud et les étoiles principales et un cercle concentrique représentant la déclinaison sont marqués sur le plateau (3). A chaque cercle concentrique, la déclinaison ou la valeur obtenue par soustraction de la déclinaison de 90· est enregistrée. Le plateau (3), servant de compteur de temps, tourne à la même vitesse que la sphère céleste actuelle. Cette montre peut être utilisée comme montre universelle et la rotation de la terre peut être indirectement observée que ce soit le jour ou la nuit. Grâce à cette montre on peut lire la latitude, la longitude et l'heure locale.
