The converter for converting an interlace signal into a progressive scan signal comprises: a low pass filter for vertically filtering an interlace signal at a present field; a high pass filter for vertically filtering an interlace signal at a previous field of the present field; and addition means for generating an interpolation line signal at a present field by summing an output of the high pass filter and an output of the low pass filter.
