An apparatus for regulating voltage and power in a computer system is disclosed. The voltage and power regulation is performed by voltage regulation circuitry on a voltage regulator module (200). The voltage regulator module (200) is a detachable unit which interfaces with the motherboard (340) through a socket connector (335). The socket connector (335) has a fixed pin definition which allows a variety of voltage regulator modules (200) programmed to regulate voltages and power at different levels to be implemented on the motherboard (340).

La régulation de tension et de puissance est effectuée par un circuit de régulation de tension sur un module (200) régulateur de tension. Ledit module (200) régulateur de tension est une unité détachable qui fait interface avec la carte mère (340) par l'intermédiaire d'un connecteur (335) femelle. Ledit connecteur (335) femelle possède une définition de broches fixe qui permet à une diversité de modules (200) régulateurs de tension programmés pour réguler des tensions et des puissances à différents niveaux d'être mis en place sur la carte mère (340).
