A large pore (500 - 2000 °A) ceramic membrane is used to separate asphaltenes from heavy crude oil. Permeate is recycled to the feed for an initial period, during which the pores are deliberately fouled to reduce pore size. This reduction eventually levels off, at which point recycling is terminated and ultrafiltration is continued thereafter at good flux rates with effective asphaltenes removal.
Membrane de céramique à grands pores (500 - 2000 degrés A) permettant de séparer les asphaltènes du brut lourd. Le perméat est recyclé dans l'alimentation pendant une période initiale, au cours de laquelle les pores sont délibérément encrassés pour en réduire la taille. Cette réduction se stabilise lorsque le recyclage prend fin, l'ultrafiltration se poursuivant ensuite à un flux avantageux, avec élimination efficace des asphaltènes.
