Abstract of the Disclosure: Welding between members to be welded is made to proceed simultaneously on both the upper and lower sides of the members by means of downward welding torches and upward welding torches which are opposed to each other in the vertical direction with the members placed therebetween. The welding by means of the downward welding torches is effected in advance of the welding by means of the upward welding torches.
