A retroreflective article (10) utilizing a solventless bead bond composition (15) wherein the bead bond composition (15) includes a urethane/acrylate interpenetrating polymer network in which the urethane polymer is a thermoplastic and the acrylate component is a thermoset. The solventless bead bond is applied as a mixture of diisocyanates, diols, multifunctional acrylates and additives and thermally cured to a rubbery, thermoplastic solid. At this point the bead bond can be softened or molded with the application of heat or stored for a period of time without loss of thermoplasticity. Final retroreflective sheeting constructions (10) which possess superior adhesion to acrylics, toughness and high retroreflectance are achieved by curing the multifunctional acrylates with radiation.

L'invention concerne un article rétroréfléchissant (10) formé d'une composition (15) de perles de soudure sans solvant, ladite composition comprenant un alliage IPN d'uréthane/acrylate dans lequel le polymère d'uréthane est un thermoplastique et le composant acrylate est une matière thermodurcie. La perle de soudure sans solvant est appliquée en tant que mélange de diisocyanates, diols, acrylates multifonctionnels et additifs et durcie thermiquement pour devenir un solide thermoplastique caoutchouteux. A ce stade, la perle de soudure peut être adoucie ou moulée par application de chaleur ou stockée pendant un laps de temps sans perte de thermoplasticité. On obtient des constructions de feuille (10) rétroréfléchissantes finales qui présentent une adhérence aux acryliques, une ténacité supérieures et un facteur de réflexion élevé en durcissant les acrylates multifonctionnels par rayonnement.
