A synchronization apparatus, comprising: a USB device having a USB microcontroller, circuitry for observing USB traffic, and circuitry for decoding from a USB data stream a periodic data structure (such as a clock carrier signal) containing information about a distributed clock frequency and phase and outputting a decoded carrier signal; and circuitry for receiving the decoded carrier signal, for generating a software interrupt upon receipt of a predefined data packet (such as a SOF packet) and for passing the software interrupt to the USB microcontroller; wherein the USB microcontroller is configured to respond to the software interrupt (such as with an interrupt service routine provided therein) by generating an output signal adapted to be used as a synchronization reference signal.
L'invention concerne un appareil de synchronisation comprenant : un dispositif USB comportant un microcontrôleur USB, des circuits permettant d'observer le trafic sur le bus USB et des circuits permettant de décoder à partir d'un flux de données USB une structure périodique de données (comme par exemple un signal de porteuse d'horloge) contenant des informations sur une fréquence et une phase d'horloge répartie et de fournir en sortie un signal de porteuse décodé; ainsi que des circuits permettant de recevoir le signal de porteuse décodé afin de générer une interruption logicielle à la réception d'un paquet de données prédéfinies (comme par exemple un paquet de type SOF) et pour transmettre l'interruption logicielle au microcontrôleur USB, le microcontrôleur USB étant configuré pour répondre à l'interruption logicielle (comme par exemple avec un sous-programme de service d'interruption inclus dans celui-ci) en générant un signal de sortie conçu pour être utilisé comme signal de référence de synchronisation.
