ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a rope for use as a connecting member without the use of knots, splicing or the like, comprising at least two braided strands of material, each braided strand being further crochetted together with the other braided strand by narrow interconnecting ribs at spaced intervals along their lengths, thereby defining a series of openable loops disposed alogn the length of the rope, whereby a portion of said rope is insertable through a selected openable loop to easily form one of a running noose and a self-locking loop without slipping along the rope. The present invention also provides such a rope in which a portion of the rope is inserted through a selected openable loop to form one of a running noose and a self- locking loop without slipping. The present invention also provides a method of forming a noose or loop in a rope without the use of knots, splicing or the like which comprises inserting in a rope as set forth above a portion of the rope through a selected openable loop to form one of a running noose and a self- locking loop without slipping.
