A method is provided for the selection of diagnostic genetic markers fragments and useful in the identification of bacteria at the genus, species or serotype level. The method first involves the identification of a RAPD polymorphic DNA fragment common to a particular microbial group, the identification of the most conserved regions of that fragment, and the preparation of specific primers useful for detecting the presence of a marker within the fragment whereby that set of primers is then useful in the identification of all members of the chosen microbial group. Also provided is a specific diagnostic marker for Salmonella and primers directed thereto.

Un procédé permet de sélectionner des fragments de marqueurs génétiques diagnostiques et se révèle utile pour identifier des bactéries par leur genre, espèce ou sérotype. Ce procédé implique d'abord, l'identification d'un fragment d'ADN polymorphe RAPD (ADN polymorphe amplifié aléatoire) commun à un groupe microbien particulier, l'identification des régions les mieux conservées de ce fragment, et la préparation d'amorces spécifiques permettant de détecter la présence d'un marqueur dans ce fragment, ce jeu d'amorces servant ensuite à identifier tous les membres du groupe microbien choisi. On décrit aussi un marqueur diagnostique spécifique de Salmonella et des amorces destinées à le détecter.
