ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Adhesive mixtures containing, per 100 parts by weight water, 40 to 120 parts gum arabic, 3 to 80 parts by weight water-soluble starch degradation products or carboxymethyl starch or gelatinized starch and, optionally, typical preservatives in aqueous solution and having a Brookfield (RVT) viscosity at 20°C in the range from 1,000 to 15,000 mPa.s, and more especially in the range from 1,700 to 5,000 mPa.s, for gluing the longitudinal seam of cigarette wrappers by machine.
