A method for converting starting material to olefins comprising contacting the starting material with a small pore non-zeolitic molecular sieve catalyst under effective conditions to produce olefins, wherein the non-zeolitic molecular sieve has been prepared in-situ or modified after synthesis by incorporation using an alkaline earth metal compound, wherein the alkaline earth metal ion is selected from the group consisting of strontium, calcium, barium, and mixtures thereof.

Cette invention concerne un procédé permettant de convertir une matière première en oléfines et consistant à mettre en contact ladite matière première avec un catalyseur comportant un tamis moléculaire non zéolitique à pores de petite taille, dans des conditions assurant une production efficace d'oléfines, ledit tamis moléculaire non zéolitique ayant été préparé in-situ ou modifié après synthèse par incorporation d'un composé de métal alcalino-terreux, et l'ion de métal alcalino-terreux étant sélectionné dans le groupe constitué par le strontium, le calcium, le baryum et des mélanges de ces derniers.
