ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: . Soils are fertilized by application of a composition exhibiting a delayed release of nitrogen. This composition consists of ammonium syngenite (NH4)2SO4.CaSO4.H2O or a mixture of finely divided ammonium sulfate, calcium sulfate,. calcium chloride and/or dicalcium phosphate with the proviso that the molar ratio of Ca to SO4-- in the mixture is 1 :2 + 10%.
