Abstract The present invention relates to the use of substituted benzyl- phenyl ethers of the formula Image (I) wherein X, R2, R3, R4 m and n have the meanings mentioned in the specification, as pesticides. The inventlon also relates to novel compounds of the formula Image (IV) wherein X, R3, R4 m and n have the meanings mentioned in the specification, and R2 is a single or double-bonded alkyl radical with 4 to 18 carbon atoms, an alkoxy radical with 3 to 8 carbon atoms or an alkinyl radical with 3 to 8 carbon atomd, each of said radicals being optionally substituted by a radical selected from alkoxy with 1 to carbon atoms, hydroxyl, amino, mono-alkylamino with 1 to 6 carbon atoms, dialkyl-amino with 1 to 6 carbon atoms in each alkyl group, and an alkylene bridge containing 5 carbon atoms, or is a furfuryl radical of the formula Image , and, i$ R3 is not hydrogen, R2 has not only the afore-said meanings-but also stands for optionally substituted alkyl with 1 to 3 carbon atoms, (II) Image (III) wherein in each case R1, R3, R4, m and n have the meanings mentioned in the specificatio? and R2 has the above-mentioned meanings, as well as several processes for the preparation of the novel compounds.
