Methods to control manganese deposition in an aqueous system, which include introducing a cerium-containing composition, and optionally another deposit control agent, to the aqueous system, are described. Also described, are cerium-containing compositions that promote the manganese stabilization performance of polymeric dispersants and phosphonic acids commonly used in water treatment applications. Cerium-containing compositions that can inhibit the oxidative degradation of deposit control agents are also described.

L'invention concerne des procédés permettant de combattre le dépôt de manganèse dans un système aqueux, qui consiste notamment à introduire dans ledit système aqueux une composition contenant du cérium et, éventuellement, un autre agent anti-dépôt. L'invention concerne également des compositions contenant du cérium qui favorisent l'efficacité de stabilisation du manganèse de dispersants polymères et d'acides phosphoniques couramment utilisés dans des applications de traitement de l'eau. L'invention concerne enfin des compositions contenant du cérium susceptibles d'inhiber la dégradation oxydante des agents anti-dépôt.
