The use of corticotroph-derived glycoprotein hormone (CGH) to potentiate glucocorticoid action and to reduce glucocorticoid-induced adrenocortical suppression is described. CGH can be co-administered with glucocorticoids to enable a lower dosage of glucocorticoids to be used and to prevent or reduce glucocorticoid-induced side-effects. The invention additionally provides methods for the use of CGH as a replacement for glucocorticoids, or for treatment of a broad range of inflammatory states. Further provided are methods for purification of recombinant CGH.

L'invention concerne l'utilisation d'une hormone glycoprotéique dérivée de l'hormone corticotrope (CGH) pour renforcer l'action des glucocorticoïdes et diminuer la suppression surrénale induite par les glucocorticoïdes. La CGH peut être coadministrée avec les glucocorticoïdes pour obtenir un dosage inférieur des glucocorticoïdes à utiliser, et pour empêcher ou réduire les effets secondaires causés par les glucocorticoïdes. L'invention concerne également des méthodes d'utilisation de la CGH pour remplacer les glucocorticoïdes ou pour traiter un large éventail d'états inflammatoires.
