Ce procédé consiste à administrer à un vertébré, notamment un mammifère ou un oiseau, en quantité suffisante et/ou à un taux suffisant pour obtenir l'effet désiré, du glutamate, des métabolites ou des dérivés du glutamate, des analogues du glutamate ou des mélanges de ceux-ci. L'invention concerne également un procédé permettant de moduler la qualité des os chez les vertébrés, notamment les mammifères et les oiseaux. Ce procédé consiste à administrer à un vertébré, notamment un mammifère ou un oiseau, nécessitant un traitement, du glutamate, des métabolites ou des dérivés du glutamate, des analogues du glutamate ou des mélanges de ceux-ci de façon à moduler la qualité des os. L'invention concerne par ailleurs une composition à utiliser dans ce traitement.
