METHOD FOR PRODUCING A COAT OF POLYMER MATERIAL ON METAL PIPES ABSTRACT A layer of polymer material is applied to the surface of metal pipe and exposed to a temperature sufficient to bring abou/t the fusing of the layer applied directly on the surface of pipe, this exposure of the layer of polymer material being accomplished in a closed space heat-insulated from the sur- rounding atmosphere. The temperature in said space at the in- stant of introducing therein the tube heated to a temperature c responding to the temperature of polymerization of the polymer material used is maintained above 20°C but not over the tempe- rature of polymerization of the material used. The metal pipe with the fused layer of polymer material is kept in said space for a period sufficient for the polymerization of the layer of polymer material applied and the formation of hard polymer coating on the surface to take place. Thanks to the present invention it is possible to apply a coat in polymer material to metal pipes using less power than theretofore and obtain coatings providing reliable protec- tion of metal pipes against corrosion.
