The present invention relates to a method of evaluating the cancer state of a subject using lecithin:retinol acyl transferase (LRAT) gene promoter methylation status. Methods of analyzing and quantifying LRAT gene promoter methylation level are also disclosed. The present invention also relates to methods of determining the prognosis for s subject having cancer by assessing LRAT mRNA expression and LRAT protein expression. Methods of cancer detection, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment are also disclosed.

La présente invention concerne une méthode d'évaluation de l'état cancéreux d'un sujet par méthylation du gène promoteur de la lécithine-rétinol acyltransférase (LRAT). Elle concerne également des méthodes d'analyse et de quantification du niveau de méthylation du gène promoteur de la LRAT; ainsi que des méthodes de détermination du pronostic pour un sujet atteint de cancer, par évaluation de l'expression de l'ARNm de la LRAT et de l'expression de la protéine de la LRAT. L'invention concerne en outre des méthodes de détection, de diagnostic, de prognostic et de traitement du cancer.
