The invention relates to the use of polyethylene glycol esters of fatty acids corresponding to the following formula: R1-CO-O-(CH2-CH2-O)n-OC-R2 (I) in which R1 and R2 independently of one another represent alkyl groups containing 7 to 23 carbon atoms, which may be saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched, and n is a number of 2 to 50, as lubricants in the processing of thermoplastics.
