Disclosed is a use of a polymer powder which has been produced from a dispersion, in a shaping process. The dispersion comprises a polymer component and a water-soluble component which in turn comprises an oligosaccharide. The shaping process is a layer-by-layer process by selectively melting a region of a layer of the polymer powder via introduction of electromagnetic energy and cooling the melted region.
