A method of manufacturing a base paper sheet containing cellulose fiber derived from re-pulped coated broke containing material which can cause white pitch. According to the method, the coated broke is re-pulped to form a re- pulped fiber slurry containing material which can cause white pitch. To the slurry is added a vinylamine polymer including from about 1 to about 100 mole percent vinylamine and from about 1 to about 99 mole percent of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of amidine vinylformamide, vinyl alcohol, vinyl acetate, vinyl pyrrolidinone and the esters, amides, nitriles and salt of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid. A base paper sheet is then formed from the re-pulped fiber slurry.
