This invention is based upon the discovery that prolactin has been found to counter the effect that TGF-.beta. has on cells. An object of the present invention is to claim a method for treating a patient that may be suffering from a disease or disorder which is associated with the presence of TGF- .beta., by administering an effective amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable composition containing prolactin.
