The invention concerns the use of propionic bacteria selected according to their low propensity to autolysis and their resistance to bile salts to obtain a current food composition or a dietetic composition of a medicine absorbable by a human or animal, prepared in such a way that the bacteria are well protected at least partially against gastric acidity, containing at least 10<6> cell/grams of said bacteria, capable of stimulating and increasing significantly the synthesis of propionic acid and/or propionate and, as the case may be, acetic acid and/or acetate at the colon by anaerobic bacterial fermentation.
Utilisation de bactéries propioniques sélectionnées en fonction de leur caractère peu autolytique et de leur aptitude à résister aux sels biliaires pour l'obtention d'une composition d'alimentation courante ou d'une composition diététique ou médicamenteuse absorbable par l'homme ou l'animal, élaborée pour que les bactéries soient protégées au moins partiellement vis-à-vis de l'acidité gastrique, renfermant au moins 10 6 cellules/gramme de ces bactéries, susceptible de stimuler et d'augmenter de façon significative la synthèse d'acide propionique et/ou de propionate et le cas échéant d'acide acétique et/ou d'acétate au niveau du côlon par fermentation bactérienne anaérobie.
